In order to register, a candidate must first complete a minimum of 12 hours of either classroom security training or field experience. Once this requirement is met, the candidate can then apply to the North Dakota Private Investigation and Security Board.

The application process includes fingerprinting and background checks- which may include your driving experience. After the application is submitted, the candidate will then be registered as an unarmed security guard in the state of North Dakota.

The guide is an important tool for candidates who wish to become licensed security guards in ND.

Commissioned officers have the authority to carry firearms and make arrests, so it is important that they are thoroughly trained and qualified for the job. In addition to their law enforcement duties, commissioned officers also serve as ambassadors for their communities. They represent the values of their community and build relationships with its residents. As such, they play an important role in keeping North Dakota a safe and welcoming place to live.
